![]() From what I have seen, the USB hardware requirement was something forced on them by the rights holders when they got the license. Nucore requires a pointless piece of proprietary hardware, it makes very little sense to replace the prism card which is rare, with Nucore which is even more rare. The drama and cryptic messages about why Nucore shut their doors leads me to believe they harbored bad feelings over whatever happened, and they still had a desire to save pinball 2000.Įven if Nucore were to come back, and we all buy it as I know I plan to do (two of them actually). It's perfectly legal to circumvent copy protection on something you own (so says the library of congress).and since they offer the software free with no license involved, just by downloading it you "own" it.ģ. Nucore and the Roms needed were/still are provided absolutely free with no software license.Ģ. Perhaps the licensing issues made them decide to release the nucore software as pinbox themselves, then claim someone else did it by informing otherwise oblivious pin2k owners that they would be chasing down the 'culprit' via a widely used pinball forum.ġ. They shouldn't get any money for dishonest behavior and outright theft of another team's work. If I had issues, rather than continuing to work on an aging system, I would have opted in for a NuCore. I had a RFM, but it was working perfectly and I wasn't really needing the upgrades that NuCore brings. I wouldn't expect blatant theft and repurposing, but I'm never too surprised that someone out there does something really lame.Ĩ0 for how likely I'd buy NuCore.IF I needed it. They're not freaking Robin Hood and if they really cared, they'd come up with their own code.ĥ0 for how surprised. The Pinbox team should be ashamed.Ġ for how I appreciate with Pinbox did. What happened to them is really, really lame. How likely would you be to buy Nucore if you owned a Pinball 2000 at this point?ĩ0 for how bad I feel about the NuCore team. How surprised are you that this happened? How much do you appreciate and/or admire what the Pinbox team did? How bad do you feel for the Nucore team that Pinbox was made released? The guys that developed this are great, and passionate about pinball. In my personal opinion, I expect Nucore will be the bases for more good things to come, from both existing playfields and future playfields. ![]() >How likely would you be to buy Nucore if you owned a Pinball 2000 at this point? Anything locked, just attracts a lock-pick. >How surprised are you that this happened? >How much do you appreciate and/or admire what the Pinbox team did? The more prevalant question will be which laws were broken. >How bad do you feel for the Nucore team that Pinbox was made released? I will assume 100 means feel good or best. I've added a poll as well, so we can get a quick summary of how people feel on the matter. I tried installing Pinbox to a 32G flashdrive instead of an HDD, is was slow as shit.On a scale of 0-100:How bad do you feel for the Nucore team that Pinbox was made released? How much do you appreciate and/or admire what the Pinbox team did?How surprised are you that this happened? How likely would you be to buy Nucore if you owned a Pinball 2000 at this point? But again, the sound is not a priority as I want to use an OEM computer, but if this Pinbox thingy works, it' be a good backup. For now im using the speakers in the LCD monitor for testing purposes. I will need a 2.1ch amp to get good sound with this setup, but I need to adapt the amp output to the 6-pin connector in the cab harness. I dont think ive ever seen a MB with an amp built in. This MB has multiple audio outs, but all are line-level. Your running on Linux? If I convert my PK2000 this way I'll probably use SSD rather than SATA drive. I'm going to install virtualbox on my PC and try pinbox with linux or xp. I wonder if anybody's ever gotten this to work in that manner. What's really cool is Linux can be booted from a flash drive. Most computer motherboards only have sound output for headphone or speaker jacks. Yeah, never thought about hooking the sound up this way.
